Mathematics Booster & Upgrading Courses
Mathematics 6 Refresher Course
In this course, students will practice and strengthen their numeracy skills in order to help meet the demands of the Mathematics 7 program at Armbrae. Topics include: factors and multiples, fractions (conversion and ordering), multiplication and division of decimals, order of operations, patterns and applying these skills to solve problems.
Prerequisite: Mathematics 6
This course would be for intake students and/or current Armbrae students that earned less than 70% in Math 6.
Mathematics 7 Refresher Course
In this course, students will practice and strengthen their numeracy and algebra skills in order to help meet the demands of the Mathematics 8 program at Armbrae. Topics include: operations with integers, fractions and decimals, percents and their applications, and algebra (combining like terms/simplifying expressions and solving equations).
Prerequisite: Mathematics 7
This course would be for intake students and/or current Armbrae students that earned less than 70% in Math 7.
Mathematics 8 Refresher Course
In this course, students will practice and strengthen their numeracy and algebra skills in order to help meet the demands of the Mathematics 9 program at Armbrae. Topics include: operations with rational numbers (integers, decimals, fractions) and algebra (exponents, solving equations, simplifying expressions).
Prerequisite: Mathematics 8
This course would be for intake students and/or current Armbrae students that earned less than 70% in Math 8.
Mathematics 9 Refresher Course
In this course, students will practice and strengthen their numeracy and algebra skills in order to help meet the demands of the Mathematics 10 Academic program at Armbrae. Topics include: operations with rational numbers (integers, decimals, fractions) and algebra (exponents, solving equations, polynomials).
Prerequisite: Mathematics 9
This course would be for intake students and/or current Armbrae students that earned less than 70% in Math 9 and who are enrolling in Math 10 Academic.
Mathematics 9 Upgrade Course
Mathematics 9 Upgrade Course
In this course, students will be able to upgrade their Math 9 course in order to be prepared for Math 10 Advanced. Topics include: negative exponent laws, multiplying polynomials, linear relations, and analytic geometry. Note: A mark of 75% in this upgrade course is required in order to enrol in Math 10 Advanced.
Prerequisite: Mathematics 9
Mathematics 10 Upgrade Course
In this course, students will be able to upgrade their Math 10 course in order to be prepared for Precalculus 11 at Armbrae. Topics include: linear systems, quadratic equations and functions, and rational expressions. Note: A mark of 75% in this upgrade course is required in order to enroll in Precalculus 11.
Prerequisite: Mathematics 10 or Math at Work 10
